Original Limited Edition Print, 11x14 inches.
Each print used a painting of a woman done by a male artist in the impressionist era. The women of these paintings were often subjected to the male gaze by artists such as Degas and Gauguin. By re-imaging these women, I reflected on the overall form and lines of the body rather than sexuality or voyeurism. The linework on the left is a “blind” drawing of the woman (the figure without looking at the paper). Then I use the simple outline to create the new figure. Through this process, the viewer begins to look at the form rather than the subject.
